Massive off-the-mat fights have become a staple of the Karate Kid spinoff series, with many seasons featuring a brawl between a vast number of fighters with no points or rules. The final season of Cobra Kai certainly delivered in this regard since the big brawl that ended episode 7 featured expert fighters, children and adults, from all over the world.
This could very well be the last big brawl of Cobra Kai, so it’s great that Netflix didn’t disappoint. We saw Chozen and Sensei Kim team up against an entire dojo, watched Johnny Lawrence finally face off with Terry Silver, and enjoyed Robby and Miguel fighting back to back against dozens of foes. This was the biggest fight since Cobra Kai season 2’s school fight, which is saying something since this event has long been regarded as a series highlight. Cobra Kai‘s showrunners clearly knew this since they used the same formula for the season 6 brawl—but with a dark twist.

While there have been many brawls in Cobra Kai, the school fight was unique in that it saw an organized space under adult supervision get entirely out of control. Back in season 2, the steadily built-up rage between Cobra Kai and Miyagi-Do exploded in the least expected moment, and it was so extreme that teachers and school administration could do nothing about it. They even got wrapped up in it themselves. It was clear that, unlike other fights, someone would be seriously injured during this battle.
The brawl at the end of Cobra Kai season 6, part 2, had much the same feel. The building tensions between the dojos were palpable even for the audience, and the second it finally broke, an all-out battle began; it was clear that there would be no stopping it. Rivals took advantage of the chaos to face off against each other with nothing held back, and it was evident that something horrible was about to happen—just as back in Cobra Kai season 2. However, this time, the impending tragedy would be much worse.

The big brawls in Cobra Kai seasons 2 and 6 followed the same format, which meant that something truly terrible was the only way that the characters would be pulled out of the chaos. In the case of the season 2 school fight, Miguel’s fall from the balcony brought the fighters to a halt. It was a chilling moment, and Miguel’s crash into the handrail and subsequent paralysis was a terrible sign that the off-the-mat rivalries had gone way too far.
