Emmerdale’s Beth Cordingly has detailed an injury sustained on her face by her cat.

The actress, who plays Ruby Fox-Miligan in the show, often updates her Instagram followers with insights into her day and relationship with former Emmerdale star Ian Kelsey.

Earlier in the week, Beth shared a selfie, confirming she’s got herself some new glasses. The star revealed she picked up some bigger frames as a result of constantly losing her other ones.

The star then goes on to open up about the lump by her lips, which developed as a result of her cat accidentally scratching her.

She wrote: ‘SideNote: yes. There is a lump on the LHS of my mouth. My cat did it. Granted, my face DOES actually have lump type things either side of my mouth anyway – they’re hereditary. But my cat has scratched my face again – which he does in moments of extreme affection (we’re all mad here).

Beth added: ‘And now it has swollen up into an annoying, mildly painful lump that I’m hoping will go down with some…savlon….? @iankelseyofficial has suggested I add some cotton wool to the rhs side of my mouth. When in doubt…Marlon Brando, I guess.’

Beth joined the ITV soap as Caleb Miligan’s (William Ash) wife Ruby at the start of the year.

Emmerdale producer, Laura Shaw, said: ‘Ruby has always been troubled and volatile in nature and finally our audience will be able to learn more about the past that has haunted her and made Ruby the woman she is today.’

The storyline is likely to trigger an emotional and hard-hitting journey on the show, with Ruby attempting to navigate the intrusion of her traumatic ordeal into her current life.
