The police in Washington, District of Columbia, were detaining a murder suspect who had complained of ankle soreness. When they took him to a hospital at George Washington University, the suspect fled while still being shackled and wearing just one shoe.

According to a statement that was made public by the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington, District of Columbia, “two officers chased after (suspect Christopher) Haynes but were unable to catch him.”

The actions of Christopher Haynes, which were captured on video by the police as he snuck across a garden while wearing socks and seemed to jump a fence, were captured on camera. It is unclear when or where he misplaced one of his shoes.

After breaking out of the institution earlier that day, he was caught on surveillance footage that same afternoon. As of Friday, the order for students at George Washington University to remain in their buildings and take cover remained in effect, and Haynes, who is 30 years old, had not been located.
