The Abia State Ministry of Environment has suspended the services of all previously approved environmental service providers and revenue collection agents in the state.
The suspension is effective immediately.
A statement released Thursday by the Commissioner for Environment, Philemon Ogbonna, explained that the ministry identified unauthorised individuals and companies posing as approved agents.
To ensure transparency, the ministry has asked all service providers and revenue collection agents to report for verification and revalidation of their approvals.
“Consequently, all those who regard themselves as Service Providers and Revenue Collection Agents of the Ministry of Environment are hereby directed to report to the Ministry for verification and validation of their approval and activities.
“Please note that this window of opportunity for the verification and revalidation of all previous approvals will elapse eight weeks from the publication of this public notice,” he said
