The Osun State Government has declared Tuesday, August 20th, 2024 as a public holiday for traditional worshippers to celebrate Isese Day.
Governor Ademola Adeleke approved the holiday in a statement by the Osun State Commissioner for Home Affairs, Abdul-Rasheed Aderibigbe, on Friday.
Aderibigbe stated, “This is to inform the General Public that the Executive Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke has declared Tuesday,20th August,2024 as a Public Holiday to celebrate “ISESE DAY”.
Traditional religion worshippers in southwest states had been clamoring for a day to be set aside as a regional public holiday for Isese Day celebration.
The day is reserved for traditional worshipers to celebrate their deities and is observed as the culmination of a week of traditional religious activities and festivities.
It usually involves display of culture and spirituality with parties, festivals, parades, lectures and display of other traditional apparels to attract tourists from other parts of the world.
