Upcoming AMD desktop Ryzen 9000 Granite Ridge and mobile Ryzen AI 300 Strix Point processors are seemingly coming soon. Though not official, the gap in pricing for high-end chips seems to be lower than the 7000 series.
According to some retailers’ listings, AMD’s Ryzen AI 300 mobile processors are scheduled for July 15, with the Ryzen 9000 CPUs coming shortly after on July 31. These dates sound plausible since AMD has announced its chips will hit storefronts sometime next month. This also means AMD has an empty playground as Intel isn’t won’t launch its next-gen products until Q3 for mobile and Q4 for desktop.
On the mobile front, Asus seems to be the first to offer a Zenbook S 16 powered by a Ryzen AI 9 365 processor. The brand asks for $1,399 for this laptop, featuring 24GB of RAM and 1TB of storage.
On the desktop side, we have Philippines’ BTZ platform showing:
- Ryzen 9 9950X – 16-cores: 38,000 Philippine pesos ($648)
- Ryzen 9 9900X – 12-cores: 35,000 Philippine pesos ($597)
- Ryzen 7 9700X – 8-cores: 24,000 Philippine pesos ($409)
- Ryzen 5 9600X – 6-cores: 18,500 Philippine pesos ($315)
Due to the fluctuating exchange rate, we can easily assume these represent $649, $599, $399, and $299 MSRP, respectively. Even so, some of these CPUs still carry an unusual price tag – namely the 9950X and 9900X. Where the six and eight-core models replaced their predecessors, the 12 and 16-core chips got much closer – a surprisingly small price difference for a noticeable increase in multi-core performance.
While the release date seems right where we expect it to be, pricing could easily be a placeholder. I’ll believe the unusually small $51 gap between the 16 and 12-core models when I see it. In any case, we don’t have to wait much longer to find out So, stay tuned.
