Harry Kane’s trophyless first season at Bayern Munich has somehow gotten even worse – and Arsenal fans were quick to take advantage.

The 2023/24 campaign has been incredible on an individual level for the England captain who has scored a staggering 44 goals and made 12 assists in just 45 games.

But of course, the striker moved from Tottenham to Munich in order to finally end his trophy drought but has failed to do so.

In his first appearance, Bayern lost the German Super Cup 3-0 to RB Leipzig, before they were shockingly knocked out of the German Cup to third-tier side Saarbrucken.

They were just minutes away from reaching the Champions League final, only for two very late Joselu strikes to send Real Madrid to Wembley instead, while their 11-year hold on the Bundesliga was also ended by Bayer Leverkusen.

Following a 2-1 win over Augsburg, Leverkusen have become the first side in history to complete a Bundesliga season unbeaten, and Xabi Alonso’s sensational team are now just two games away from an unprecedented ‘invincible treble’.

Meanwhile, Kane was absent from Bayern’s final game of the season away to Hoffenheim where they raced into a 2-0 lead after just six minutes but would ultimately lose 4-2.

The result, combined with Stuttgart’s 4-0 win over Borussia Monchengladbach, means that Bayern have slipped up further and finished third in the table, their lowest position since 2011.

Supporters of Arsenal, and indeed other clubs in England and around the world revelled in hearing this news, with @dhur1m tweeting: ‘Kane has the worst luck in football history.’

West Stand13 said: ‘Kane leaves Spurs…. Turns Bayern into Spurs… It’s just superb,’ while @sir_obafoluke added: ‘At this point. I don’t think Tottenham was the problem.’

Others were quick to note that finishing third means that Bayern will also not take part in next season’s German Super Cup, meaning Kane’s wait for silverware at club level will go on until at least May 2025.

‘Bro lost another2024/25 trophy before the season started,’ @a_abbkr proclaimed, while @__T_touch empathised with the player: ‘Damn.. I feel sorry for this guy.

‘[Daniel] Levy did him dirty when he denied him the move to Man City. It’s not looking good for him. I don’t think he will the UCL while still playing at Bayern.’

The Norfolk Sonic was one of many to declare this: ‘The Harry Kane effect,’ but @topgooner100 offered up a different reason: ‘It’s called Spursy.’

Kane is currently recovering from a back injury and will be aiming to be at full fitness as soon as possible as he can still win a trophy this summer with England at Euro 2024.
