We’re still a few months out from the release of Avowed, but developer Obsidian Entertainment has already locked in the game’s system requirements. Following a deluge of demanding specs sheets, with STALKER 2 most recently promising to make our PCs sweat, this fantasy romp is a welcome reprieve.

To play Avowed, you need an AMD Radeon RX 5700, Intel Arc A580, or Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 graphics card at minimum. By today’s seemingly continuously rising standards, this is a relatively low barrier to entry (especially for a game running on Unreal Engine 5). Naturally, processor requirements aren’t taxing either. Practically any modern alternative will match or exceed both AMD Ryzen 5 2600 and Intel Core i5-8400, providing it has six cores.
To meet recommended specs, you’ll need an AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT or Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080. This is a surprisingly large jump, but there are sadly no contextual performance estimates to inform it. Likewise, CPU requirements hike up to Ryzen 5 5600X and Core i7-10700K.
Regardless of which spec you aim for you, you’ll need 16GB of RAM and 75GB of storage. While there’s no explicit requirement for an SSD, your gameplay experience will undoubtedly be all the better with a solid-state drive.
Avowed will arrive with DLSS 3 support out of the box, bringing with it Reflex, Super Resolution, and Frame Generation features. Although, you’ll need a GeForce RTX 40 series graphics card to make use of the latter of the three. There’s no word on whether FSR or XeSS suites will make an appearance but there’s still time.
This RPG’s been a long time coming, but I’m confident that Obsidian Entertainment will deliver a worthwhile experience. After all, this is the developer behind Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II, Neverwinter Nights 2, Fallout: New Vegas, and Pillars of Eternity to name a few. Better still, reception to previews at Paris Games Week were largely positive.
Avowed launches February 18, 2025 on PC and Xbox Series consoles. It’s available to pre-order now from the Microsoft Store and Steam, but it’ll also be playable on day one to Game Pass subscribers. If you can’t quite that long, the game’s Premium Edition will allow you to play it five days early and some digital goodies.
Finally, there’s also a Premium Edition Steelbook but there’s sadly no PC variant nor disc for your console. Nonetheless, a map of the Living Lands and a letter from the developer could make this a worthwhile collectible.
