Axel F Dominates Netflix’s Global Chart With Massive Viewership Debut

Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F destroys the competition on the Netflix charts this week, boasting a massive debut. The movie is the fourth film in the Beverly Hills Cop franchise, which began back in 1984. Before Axel F, it had been 30 years since Beverly Hills Cop III made its mixed-reviewed debut back in 1984. Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F features a leading cast including Eddie Murphy, Kevin Bacon, Taylour Paige, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Judge Reinhold, Paul Reiser, Bronson Pinchot, and John Ashton.

As per Netflix, Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F has made it onto the Global Top 10 for this week. Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F came in no. 1 on the charts for the week of July 1 to July 7, with 41 million views. Also charting this week included A Family Affair, Trigger Warning, Paw Patrol: The Movie, and Warcraft.

Bringing back any franchise after three decades is not easy, and Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F was going into a particularly precarious position in advance of its release. Its immediate predecessor, Beverly Hills Cop III, was the lowest-rated in the franchise as well as the lowest-grossing at the box office. Needless to say, Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F successfully showed its popularity even without the aid of box office numbers. At the time of writing, the film boasts a 66% Tomatometer among 160 Rotten Tomatoes critics, as well as an 80% audience approval rating. These scores show vast improvement from Beverly Hills Cop III, which critics and audiences gave 11% and 35% Rotten Tomatoes approvals, respectively.
