Netflix viewers have become hooked on chilling series Baby Reindeer, which stars Richard Gadd as Donny Dunn.

The comedian, 34, details his horrific experience of being stalked over many years, based on his one-man show of the same name.

The true story stars Richard as a struggling comic, and follows his encounters with a woman named Martha (played by Jessica Gunning) who turns into his stalker.

While their first encounters seem innocent and friendly, she becomes obsessive and incredibly attached, bombarding him with thousands of emails and voicemails, and turning up at his place of work and home.

The seven-part series has left viewers ‘broken’, and earned a perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes, as well as ranking number one on Netflix in the UK.

As well as Richard and Jessica, Baby Reindeer stars Nava Mau as American therapist Teri, and Donny’s love interest.

‘When I was reading the script, it felt like the first time reading a character written by someone who actually had known and loved a trans woman,’ Nava reportedly said about the role.

‘It felt like an honour to even get to read the script because of Richard’s vulnerability. There’s a light that I think pulsates out of that kind of vulnerability, and so all the characters in the story are cast in that light. I felt that in that first read of Teri.’

She added: ‘I think I knew that it was based on real life and it seemed really important to show people that trans women exist in real life and in relationships with real people. I could see Richard’s heart in the writing and I hope that people will see it too.’

And if you like her in Baby Reindeer, you’ll want to watch Genera+ion.

The 31-year-old trans actress plays Ana in the HBO series, which aired in 2021.

The comedy follows a group of high school students navigating social norms, exploring their identity and sexualities, and the challenges of growing up, with Nava playing Greta’s (Haley Sanchez) aunt.

Despite only running for one series, the show has an impressive 84% average audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.

And fans have been gushing over it, with one writing: ‘This is the most refreshing tv series i have ever watched. it really mirrors how queer teenagers are experiencing and i liked how everyone got their own POVs. its doesn’t only focus on few characters, the creators of this show made the delivery of every character’s story very smooth. i am hoping that this show will be renewed for another season. everything about the characters are very relatable it HURTS!!’

‘The best show i’ve ever seen i’m not even joking,’ someone else said.

Nava, who was born in Mexico City, is also a filmmaker and director, and has served as producer on short films Sam’s Town, Lovebites and Walking Hour.

Baby Reindeer is available to watch on Netflix and Generation can be streamed on HBO Max.
