Ahead of the dark comedy’s return, the trailer for Bad Sisters for season 2 introduces another murder and brings in a three-time Emmy nominee.

S creenRant interviewed Sharon Horgan and Dearbhla Walsh about the upcoming season 2. They teased what they are excited for fans to get to see in new episodes of Bad Sisters, and shared what it was like all coming back together to re-form their little family. Finally, Horgan and Walsh also discussed how the show was meant to be a limited series at first, revealing what helped them find a way to continue the story.

The Continuation Of The Story Just Felt Natural Once They Started Thinking About Season 2

“It did seem to have such a perfect ending, but then a perfect ending isn’t true to that story of what happens to a woman who has been in a terrible abusive relationship like that.”

Screen Rant: The first season felt self-contained in a way, so what was the process for finding a way to continue the story in season 2?

Sharon Horgan: It was great, actually, once I got my head around it. Because we did think it was just a limited series, and it did seem to have such a perfect ending, but then a perfect ending isn’t true to that story of what happens to a woman who has been in a terrible abusive relationship like that, and who’s killed the man that she loved for years.

And the sisters, everything they went through in season 1, it just seemed like, “How do you tie a bow on it? Let’s get under it and find out what really happens.” The fallout of that kind of abuse, and the aftermath, really. And then, obviously, there’s a lot of story on top of that. But that was the thing that got me excited, to explore all that.

Dearbhla Walsh: It seemed so natural once everybody was thrilled to jump back in and get the family together.

Newcomers To The Bad Sisters Cast & Crew Were Intimidated To Start Season 2 After Season 1’s Success

“This is all news to us. We have been finding out over the last couple of days that they were intimidated.”

Sisters stand at a grave side looking sad in Bad Sisters season 1

Screen Rant: What was it like for you all to get back together on set?

Dearbhla Walsh: It is just like a family. Everybody loves each other. Actually, it’s better than a family, because your own family, you often want to kill – not kill, but they annoy you. Whereas the girls, the actors, are all actually great friends offset and between takes there’s so much energy and buzz and chat around the set.

Sharon Horgan: And so many of the crew came back for the second season as well, so that that was gorgeous. And any of the newcomers, in the cast, on the crew, became part of the family as well.

Dearbhla Walsh: They were incredibly intimidated to start, and then just were absorbed into the family when they realized they weren’t scary people.

Sharon Horgan: We had no idea. This is all news to us. We have been finding out over the last couple of days that they were intimidated.

Sharon Horgan Hopes The Fans Welcome & Appreciate Season 2

“I think if you’re going back to a show that you love, your expectations are high, which is nerve-wracking to me.”

Screen Rant: Is there something that you’re most excited for the fans to get to see with season 2?

Dearbhla Walsh: How to survive.

Sharon Horgan: I’m just excited for them to see where we took the story, and I’m excited for them to get surprised. I think if you’re going back to a show that you love, your expectations are high, which is nerve wracking to me, but I hope we’ve brought enough surprises that are not all obvious, that are hidden, and that they feel like it’s the show but also that it’s different as well.

Dearbhla Walsh: And that they can relate and connect with new elements of the characters. Even though there are things that happening to some of the characteristics that might have directly happened to you, that that well of experience and emotion is very relatable.
