be quiet! has announced its first-ever panoramic PC case at Computex, and it’s nothing short of a showstopper. On the surface, it might look a bit like a Lian Li O11 clone with a dual chamber design, but digging deeper reveals you can do so much more with the chassis.
Coming in two flavours, both Light Base 900 and Light Base 600 feature a tempered glass front and side panel to give you a full view of your hard-earned components. The chassis-length ARGB LED strip illuminates your case from every angle, giving your setup some personal flair. Both models come in either black or white, with the option to include four Light Wings (Light Wings LX on the latter) or to opt for the barebones package, saving you some money.
There isn’t space for any unusual-sized fans in here, but room for up to seven 140mm or 120mm blowers should give you plenty of cooling. Each fan connects to one of the two ARGB fan hubs included on the rear, which can house a total of 12 devices. You can then customise the lighting using the controller button on the front I/O, which sits next to the USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C port. Two USB 3.2 Gen 1, a single USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A, and a 3.5mm audio jack round out the connectivity.
As a modern design, Light Base 900 stands out in three ways that other fishtank builds don’t. First, it features an “advanced VGA holder” that reinforces the PCIe slot so the biggest and best graphics cards won’t sag. RTX 4090 is already big enough and we have no idea how chonky RTX 5090 will be, although hopefully not too cumbersome. Second, it supports up E-ATX motherboard with backside connectors, like MSI Project Zero and Gigabyte Stealth.
Finally, its true secret weapon is that you can pop it into just about any orientation. Not only does Light Base 900 invert so you can pop your gaming PC to the left, but you can even lay it flat. I have a particular liking for that horizontal build, making it look like an oversized home theatre PC (HTPC). While inverting requires the usual faff of flipping the internal motherboard tray, changing the case’s positions is as simple as swapping the feet around – no tools necessary.
The main difference between the two PC cases is size. Light Base 900 is the bigger of the duo, primed for watercooling, with space for two 420mm radiators working in tandem. Meanwhile, Light Base 600 fits up to a 360mm at the top, 240mm at the size, and 140mm at the rear. You won’t even struggle to install them, as the top and bottom brackets pop out as easily as the dust filters, making building far less of a chore.
Light Base 600 LX package is also the only bundle to include four new be quiet! Light Wings LX fans. These build on the established Light Wings by optimising the fan blades and illuminating the impeller in the centre, giving you 16 LEDs to play with. This gives a more uniform look that’s far richer in colour than the single ring. Don’t get me wrong, I love the original, but LX has won me over. They’re also easier to build with, daisy chaining together in a similar fashion to Corsair iCUE Link. The ones bundled with the case are Light Wings LX 140mm PWM high-speed, but there are slower and 120mm options sold separately.
You should be able to get your hands on be quiet! Light Base cases in September or October 2024. Light Base 900 prices start at $179.0 / €169.90 for the black version, adding a small premium for the white. The bundled Light Wings fans bump this up to a maximum of $239.90 / €229.90, which is still a saving than were you to buy them separately. Light Base 600, on the other hand, starts at $149.90 / €139.90 and runs all the way to $194.90 / €184.90.
