Britain’s Got Talent semi-finalist The Dark Hero has finally revealed his true identity.

The performer wowed viewers with his operatic vocals this week when he covered Let It Go from the musical Frozen.

A jarring visual, we’ll be honest, watching a grown man in a Batman costume belt out a Disney princess classic.

Alas, it wasn’t enough to send him through to the final, as The Dark Hero crashed out in the public vote.

Taking to social media after his elimination, the former contestant decided it was time to take off his mask.

The performer shared a video of himself singing in his Batman costume with a Ukrainian flag draped over his shoulders.

He wrote in the caption: ‘I’ve got two words that I want you all to remember…. I’m Batman.’

It turns out that ‘Batman’ is actually British-Ukrainian singer, Yuriy Yurchuk.

Yuriy describes himself as an international opera singer and baritone, based in London.

While he was unsuccessful in reaching dizzying heights of success on BGT this year, we can’t see it being a major knock to his confidence, as Yuriy has already performed around the world, including for the British Royal Family.

Having received high praise throughout his career, he was once described by The Times as ‘the finest voice on stage with the immaculate Italianate line’.

Meanwhile, classical music website Bachtrack praised his ‘rich, deep voice capable of great versatility’.

He boasts over 30,000 Instagram followers where fans regularly hype up his performances.

In the comments of his latest video, user martin.clk wrote: ‘You were wonderful on BGT’.

‘Ooh it was you? I did think he looked familiar😝😇’, wrote kirkekriisk after the big reveal.

‘What a wonderfull voice you have, i loved your audition and have watched several times and last night again, praying you would be in the final ,but your my winner [sic]’, penned verayorke.

Yuriy’s unmasking comes after he took a moment to pay tribute to his home country during the live semi-finals.

After receiving feedback from judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon, and Bruno Tonioli, he stood next to presenters Ant and Dec.

Speaking to the camera, he said: ‘My heart goes to the people of Ukraine tonight.’

Ant and Dec then thanked him, quickly ushering him off stage as music played.

Of course, the act was referencing the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, which has caused thousands of soldiers and civilians to lose their lives.

While The Dark Hero will not be in the BGT 2024 final, there are plenty of other amazing acts competing for the cash prize and a slot on the Royal Variety Performance.

The last semi-final of the week saw magician Trixy and comedian Alex Mitchell complete the line-up.

They now join fellow finalists Abigail & Afronita, Northants Sings Out, Jack Rhodes, Haribow, Innocent Masuku, Ssaulabi Performance Troupe, Mike Woodhams, and Sydnie Christmas.

On Sunday night, the judges will also confirm which act has been brought back as a wildcard and given a second chance.

All 11 acts will then be praying they can do enough to follow in the footsteps of last year’s winner, comedy clown Viggo Venn.
