It could be bad news for Rosie Williams, or should we say, Baked Potato, on the series’ first eviction due to a Big Brother curse.
After a series of tense games, it was revealed that Rosie would be facing Dean Smith, Nathan King and Ryan Bradshaw in the public vote. As the only woman who is vulnerable in the ITV series, the odds are stacked against her.
Unfortunately for her (and all women), during the 21 civilian series, a female housemate has been the first to be evicted a shocking 20 times.
The only exception to the rule has been Marcos Pierre White Jr. A man, who was jailed for several offences, including shop theft and racially abusing a Tesco security guard in 2022.
The son of celebrity chef Marco Pierre White was booted out first in 2011, but he is an anomaly in a long-standing curse.
It all began in the debut 2000 series with Sada Walkington being forced out of the house first.
Even as the series moved from Channel 4 to Channel 5, and finally to ITV, the first-out trend remained consistent.
Some of the early exits have included Bonnie Holt, Sallie Axl, and Anamélia Silva, who all had little time to showcase their big personalities.
Most recently, Farida Khalifa fell victim and was booted out after facing Kerry Riches. It felt particularly unfair as the women were proving themselves as two of the most entertaining characters in the house.
Big Brother would be nothing without the iconic women who walk through the doors, so getting rid of potential main characters before they’ve even properly unpacked is an unfortunate pattern.
It’s bad news after bad news for Rosie, the dental nurse from Cornwall, who had to face Thomas Atkinson in a game of dares.
To prove how competitive they were, the pair faced tasks that escalated in difficulty during the most recent episode.
Rosie accepted being referred to as Baked Potato for the remainder of her time in the house, and eating a blended cheese sandwich. However, she admitted defeat when Big Brother said all her future nominations must be carried out face-to-face.
While Thomas, who had to shave off an eyebrow and shred three housemates’ personal photos, proved unbeatable. Therefore, he escaped the punishment and moved into the main house after previously living in ‘storage’.
The seven housemates still confined to the dreadful room – Daze Aghaji, Emma Morgan, Lily Benson, Rosie, Dean, Nathan and Ryan – were then given one final chance to change their fate.
Each person had to keep one arm raised for as long as possible. After managing over two hours, Daze was victorious. She selected Emma and Lily to also escape the first public vote.
This year, viewers are voting to evict, rather than to save, with the first live eviction taking place on Friday.
Big Brother continues tonight on ITV2 at 9pm.
