Blue popstar Duncan James has grovelled on social media to his mum Fiona Inglis for missing Mother’s Day.
But it wasn’t the former Hollyoaks actor’s fault as he explained on X his British Airways flight back home to the UK was delayed.
Duncan, 45, said his plane from Dubai destined for London Heathrow suffered a technical issue and needed to be replaced.
The flight was originally due to land in time for Mother’s Day today (Sunday March, 10) but now it won’t be landing on the runway until tomorrow (Monday March, 11).
On X, the Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word singer lamented: ‘So sadly @British_Airways couldn’t get me home in time for #mothersday as the plane went tech and couldn’t be fixed so just waiting for them to send a new one :(.
‘Sorry mum never has this happened before @flitwicker.’
Duncan also attached an update from BA about his flight, BA108, which explained the plane’s new arrival time would be 7.50am tomorrow.
‘Thank you for your patience and understanding,’ the firm signed off the message.
Fans on X consoled Duncan, with Lucia Irvine writing: ‘Aww bless you Duncan, you will make up for it and when u see ur wee mummy u will spend time with her, must be so hard especially today, sending lv xx.’
Echoing Lucia’s sentiment, Federica added: ‘I’m very sorry Dunc, don’t worry, you will come home soon and celebrate with your wonderful mother You are so sweet, I love you.’
‘Sorry to hear. I hope you get home soon and a safe flight,’ Julie Killeen added.
Fiona, however, didn’t seem too miffed and shared her own tribute to her son on Instagram.
Alongside a childhood picture of the All Rise musician, she wrote: ‘On this Mother’s Day remembering my sweet child @mrduncanjames #memories #motherlove #motherson.’
Duncan previously shared he had lavished his mum with a haul of make-up goodies from Iconic London for Mother’s Day.
The Breathe Easy singer was among a number of celebrities paying tribute to their mums on Mother’s Day on social media, with the likes of Holly Willoughby, Jamie Oliver and Lorraine Kelly thanking their parent.
Duncan rose to fame in 2001 as a member of boyband Blue, before taking on an on-screen role as Ryan Knight in Hollyoaks.
