Warning: spoilers ahead for Bridgerton season 3 part 1.

Bridgerton’s carriage scene has been sending fans into a sexually-charged spiral after the final episode of season 3 part 1 ended with a level of passion that could barely be contained.

However, by changing just one setting on Netflix, viewers have the option to make it even steamier – and many have been left thunderstruck by the realisation.

In the final moments of episode four, Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) confess their feelings for each other before having a heavy makeout session in the back of a carriage, which even goes one step further.

Fans of the show have been absolutely raving about the scene, with some stating their belief that it could be one of the sexiest moments ever on the period drama, even though there is far more to come in season three part two.

Some decided to listen to the audio description while watching the episode, an option that’s available for most titles on Netflix to describe what’s happening on screen, which can make programmes more accessible for people with visual impairments.

Bridgerton fans who haven’t listened to the audio description before were whipped into a frenzy by the discovery, as well as how much the voiceover artist committed to his role, which included going into extreme, raunchy detail.

If that didn’t make viewers blush enough, Netflix then shared the clip with the audio description onto its main social media accounts.

Gentle readers, we now have the entire transcription ready for your reading pleasure.

The now-infamous carriage rendezvous kicks off after Colin confesses his feelings to Penelope, admitting that for weeks he’s been wanting to tell her that she’s been consuming his daily thoughts and dreams.

She responds: ‘I’d very much like to be more than friends. So much more,’ before they lean in for a kiss.

And from there, the audio description of their erotic encounter begins.

‘He leans in close, bringing his face to hers. They share a scorching kiss. He wraps his arm around her waist. They separate for a brief moment, then share several deep, slow kisses.’

‘She runs her hands up to her face and down his chest. They pause, regarding each other in wonder. She brushes her fingers over the curves of his ear and rigs her hand through his hair. His open mouth curves upward in an ardent smile.’

This moment, where Penelope runs her hand through Colin’s hair and he smiles up at her adoringly, has been a particular favourite among fans so far.

The audio description continues: ‘He presses his lips to hers, flattening her against the back of her seat. His hand slides up her skirt, coming to rest at her hip. She grips his lapel as they kiss fervently.

‘He pulls back and slowly slips one of her puffed sleeves down along the creamy skin of her left shoulder. He brushes his lips over her throat and the yielding flesh below. He skims his hand down and squeezes her lush breast through her sparkling bodice. She rests her hand on his, looking down with her pink lips parted.’

We told you it was going to get extreeeemely descriptive!

Of course, it doesn’t stop there.

‘His hand slowly slides down to her thigh. She finds his mouth with hers. He pulls back. They lock eyes, heaving. He looks down. He gently lifts the hem of her dress to palm the smooth curve of her calf. He meets her pleading eyes. She nods,’ the audio description voiceover artist states.

‘He gathers the sparkling fabric in his fist. He softens his fingers as he slips them past her knee and beneath the folds of her skirts. They keep their eyes fixed on each other. Her mouth drops open. Her eyes widen, then drift closed. She clutches him convulsively.

‘He watches her flushed face. Their open mouths meet. He catches her lip between his. She arches her neck and pulls him close. Her lips find his. They share several long smouldering kisses.’

At this point, the carriage stops, with the pair realising they’ve arrived at Bridgerton House.

Colin admits he wishes the journey could carry on longer, before the friends-turned-lovers giggle together adorably.

Back to the audio description…

Years of anticipation have led to this moment (Picture: Liam Daniel/Netflix)

‘His smile fades. They gaze deeply into one another’s eyes. They share a tender, lingering kiss. Their noses brush as they open their eyes. He gently slips her sleeve back onto her shoulder and straightens a lock of her hair.’

Anyone who paid especially close attention to the carriage scene will be aware of the very important detail about Colin fixing Penelope’s dress with specific fingers.

The description continues: ‘He studies her face with an earnest, open-mouthed expression. He drops his gaze and swallows then looks back up at her. He lifts his chin.

‘He stands outside the open carriage door. He offers his hand.’

A few moments later, Colin proposes to Penelope, saying to her after asking her to join him in his house: ‘For God’s sake, Penelope Featherington. Are you going to marry me or not?’

After discovering just how much the audio description can add to Bridgerton, several fans pledged to never watch the drama without it ever again.

‘Just watched the carriage scene with the audio description and I’m unwell,’ an X user called @venusjmi wrote.

‘The descriptions that came my god…I’m not able to process it something changed in me after I watched with audio descriptions,’ Sara added.

Bea also shared: ‘I refuse to watch the rest of the season without this… ‼️‼️’

Does this mean we’re going to rewatch Bridgerton all the way from the very start to get an entirely new viewing experience? Most likely.

Bridgerton season 3 part 1 is available to watch on Netflix, with part 2 due to premiere on June 13.
