Cameron Diaz & Jamie Foxx Return To The Spy Game In Action-Packed Back In Action Trailer

The trailer for Back in Action has arrived. The upcoming Netflix action-comedy, which debuts in 2025, will be the first Cameron Diaz movie in more than a decade following her retirement from acting in 2014, the year in which she starred in Annie, Sex Tape, and The Other Woman. Directed by Horrible Bosses‘ Seth Gordon and also starring Jamie Foxx, the movie follows two former CIA operatives who are now suburban parents. However, their past comes back to haunt them when their cover is blown. The ensemble cast also includes Glenn Close, Kyle Chandler, Andrew Scott, and Jamie Demetriou.

Netflix has now unveiled the official trailer for Back in Action. It opens with Cameron Diaz delivering a speech about being rejuvenated and feeling alive again that could be interpreted as a regular marital conversation, but is intercut with a series of high-octane action scenes including Jamie Foxx using a flamethrower. What follows is a blend of action and comedy as the couple’s kids learn about their parents’ CIA past and they go on a variety of adventures, one of which concludes with Diaz saying, “if I didn’t have superior inner thigh strength, you’d be dead.” Watch the trailer below:

What The Trailer Means For Back In Action

It Lives Up To Its Title

The trailer for Back in Action showcases how the title is an apt description of Cameron Diaz’s return to acting. The high-octane goings-on see her returning to form with the action genre after starring in her fair share of action titles earlier in her career. While she is likely best known for starring opposite Drew Barrymore and Lucy Liu in the Charlie’s Angels movies, she has also appeared in Minority Report and Knight and Day, among others.

However, the Netflix action movie allows Diaz to embrace her comedy chops as well. The comedy genre is what the actor is likely best known for after her breakout performances in The Mask and My Best Friend’s Wedding led to a string of lead comedy roles in movies including There’s Something About Mary, The Holiday, The Sweetest Thing, and Very Bad Things. As the trailer highlights, her new project has allowed her to embrace both sides of her career in one fell swoop.

Our Take On The Back In Action Trailer

Cameron Diaz’s Return Is Promising

The trailer for Back in Action shows that Diaz has hit the ground running with her return to feature filmmaking. This makes her upcoming roles in projects including Shrek 5 and the Jonah Hill written and directed Outcome seem even more appealing. Although her voice performance in Shrek shows that she is not averse to returning to some of her iconic roles, Outcome seems to show that she remains interested in starring in original comedies once again, which could result in a major resurgence after a decade away from the industry.
