Chelsea have been warned a player they are planning to sell this summer will become ‘one of the best strikers in Europe’.
While Todd Boehly has already shown he is intent on bolstering the Stamford Bridge squad during this summer’s transfer window – bringing in the likes of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Tosin Adarabioyo and Omari Kellyman – he is also working on a number of outgoings.
Chelsea have sold Ian Maatsen, Lewis Hall, Omari Hutchinson and Hakim Ziyech so far this summer, while they are open to offers for Romelu Lukaku, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Conor Gallagher and Trevoh Chalobah.
The Blues are also hoping to offload Armando Broja but the President of the Albanian Football Association believes this would be a mistake, backing him to develop into one of the top strikers in Europe over the next few seasons.
Broja was expected to play a fairly big role at Stamford Bridge following an encouraging loan spell at Southampton in 2021-22.
But the 22-year-old has struggled with form and fitness, scoring just three goals across the last two campaigns.
That has led Chelsea to put Broja up for sale as they look to raise around £35m for the Albania international, who featured at Euro 2024 before his nation’s group-stage exit.
Despite Broja’s recent struggles – primarily with injuries – the striker can become an elite player in Europe, according to Albania football chief Armand Duka.
‘Armando is definitely one of the greatest talents in the entire history of Albanian football,’ he told Sportitalia.
‘I am a Milan fan and if Broja were to arrive at Milanello I would be doubly happy. It would undoubtedly be the best and strongest move that Milan could make in the summer market.
‘The boy has incredible talent and I think he hasn’t shown his best yet. He needs to play at club level and I think Serie A and Milan represent an excellent opportunity for him to climb to the top of European football.
‘He will be one of the best strikers in Europe. I am convinced that he is ready to try an experience in Italian football and if it happens I think it will be a success.’
Broja confirmed earlier this week that he has received several offers to leave Stamford Bridge this summer.
‘It’s true, I have offers from Serie A, the Bundesliga and the Premier League,’ Broja said. ‘Staying at Chelsea? It is an option. I still have a contract here.’
