Children TV presenter Michael Gibson has died aged 69.
The Australian comedian and entertainer, fondly known as ‘Gibbo’, was diagnosed with dementia 18 months ago, and died on Monday.
His wife Carol reportedly wrote on social media: ‘Many of you may know by now of the passing of my lovely husband Michael.
‘He left us after another dementia battle and, while it was sad to watch, I’m grateful he’s now free.
‘He was the brightest of us and we were so fortunate to share his time.’
Gibson was known for his work on Agro’s Cartoon Connection which ran from 1990 to1997.
It was a puppet show hosted and voiced by Jamie Dunn, who wrote on social media, according to MailOnline: ‘Farewell my funny friend. You were hilarious 100 per cent of the time! I have nothing but wonderful memories of you.’
The Queensland-based entertainer moved on to present the B105 breakfast radio programme in the 90s.
Fans have shared their condolences, with Reddit user VHS-Warrior88 writing: ‘Great memories watching Agro and the team before school in the late 80s! Rest easy, Gibbo.’
‘Funny how you can genuinely morn someone you hadn’t thought of in many years,’ steals-from-kids said.
RockhardJohnson added: ‘Watching Agro was like a religious practice for me. Safe travels Gibbo, thx for the memories.’
Gibson is survived by his wife Carol and two children.
