Christmas CPU deal puts Intel Core i5-13600K at its best price ever

Christmastime means mistletoe, wine, and a good discount if you dig deep enough. Whether you’re on the hunt for a late gift or something to treat yourself to this holiday season, Intel Core i5-13600K is a perfect present for stocking filler prices thanks to a whopping 40% off.

With this reduction, the 14-core chip is the best CPU under $200 at the moment, saving you $133 on Amazon US. It’s a similar deal across the Atlantic, where the same silicon will set you back just over £192. No matter which region you’re in, the price has never been lower. Get one of the best 14-core, 20-thread CPUs on the market for a fraction of its normal price. Read our 5/5 review.

We already dubbed Intel Core i5-13600K an absolute steal at its MSRP. Giving it a perfect 5/5 on its 2022 release, it originally boasted a wonderful price tag complete with performance that exceeds its midrange branding. This deal continues that sentiment in a landscape filled with newer processors, adjusting for the fact this Raptor Lake powerhouse is now two generations old.

Definitely don’t count it out based on age, though. Two years later, its six performance cores and eight efficient cores still handle everything you want them to, backed by 24MB Intel Smart Cache and 5.1GHz max frequencies. Power usually sits around the 125W mark, but you can push it as high as 181W if the mood strikes, even if most multi-core benchmarks don’t necessarily need it.

Packing an integrated Intel UHD Graphics 770, you could game without a graphics card but I’d certainly recommend a discrete pairing. Using an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 FE graphics card, we smashed through the 100fps mark in Forza Horizon 5 and stormed past the 220fps mark in Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker, both at FHD resolution and max settings. Naturally, your mileage will vary depending on what GPU you use and what games you run, but there’s plenty of room to scale using settings and super samplers.

You can plonk i5-13600K into Intel 600 Series motherboards if you update the BIOS first, but it takes better advantage of 700 Series. Here, you can get up to DDR5-5600 memory, Thunderbolt 4 connectivity, and WiFi 6E for that 5GHz band. Well worth the extra pennies, which you’ll incidentally be saving here anyway.

Billed as a limited-time deal, don’t hang around on this one, as it could be gone at the click of your fingers. Thankfully, Amazon offers an extended return window right through to January 31, just in case you have second thoughts and want a full refund.
