Coronation Street stars have leapt to the defence of Colson Smith after comments from Levi Roots on Celebrity Big Brother left him upset.

During a task, Levi said that he previously thought Colson was the ‘most boring’ housemate, but that his opinion had changed.

Fellow housemate Fern Britton was quick to point out that nobody else in the house had ever found Colson boring, while Nikita Kuzmin and Bradley Riches were quick to comfort the actor after finding him crying in the toilet.

On social media, Colson’s Corrie castmates rushed to his defence, with Bethany Platt actress Lucy Fallon sharing a clip of the incident, suggesting that she was going to ‘have to go down there’, alongside some punching hand emojis.

In another story, she shared a picture of a cardboard cut out of Colson in her living room, alongside the caption: ‘Being a nice, normal person doesn’t make you boring. You’re annoying, but you’re never boring.’

Elsewhere, Sally Ann Matthews, who plays Jenny Connor, revealed that she had to prepare herself to watch the episode, after sharing the preview clip of Colson crying with the caption, ‘Livid’.

On the other end of the spectrum, Colson’s good friend and co-star, David Platt actor Jack P Shepherd, appeared on Celebrity Big Brother: Late and Live after the incident, and revealed that he thought Levi ‘had a point’.

‘What I think Levi was probably getting at is that Colson’s been nice to everyone.’

‘He’s a good guy. He’s a nice guy,’ Ben revealed. ‘It wasn’t a game. He went off to have a little cry, he didn’t know he was on the camera.’

‘He didn’t go in the diary room and have a cry,’ Jack added.

It is clear who the Corrie stars are backing to win this series of Celebrity Big Brother, with Ben announcing ‘Colson to win’ during their appearance on the ITV breakfast show, but will he make it all the way to the end?
