Bernie Winter (Jane Hazlegrove) is on a mission to find her long-lost son in Coronation Street, but currently remains unaware they’ve actually already met.
At the start of this week, Bernie set off to the address of a man called Christopher Green. With knowledge Zodiac had his name changed to Christopher shortly after being adopted, Bernie thought all she would have to do is meet every single Christopher Green in the area, and she’d eventually find her son.
When Bernie entered Christopher’s (Jacob Roberts) house, she said that she believes he’s her son – but Christopher sent her away, under the impression he was never adopted.
However, after Bernie chatted to Dev Alahan (Jimmi Harkishin) and said she gave Christopher a jade elephant when he was taken into care, we saw the newcomer with that same item.
In tonight’s episode of the ITV soap, Bernie told Dev there’s one more Christopher Green on her list. However, when she learnt this man had died after being diagnosed with cancer, she drowned her sorrows, fearing she had missed the chance to find her son.
Outside the café, when a drunk Bernie spotted Christopher (who goes by the name of Kit now) taking pictures of the building, she confronted him, and then got arrested for being drunk and disorderly.
In upcoming episodes, Bernie tells Dev that it would have been Zodiac’s birthday today. As she sets off for Paul Foreman’s (Peter Ash) feeding tube operation, Bernie sees her car being towed away.
Spotting Kit nearby – again – Bernie convinces herself that he is to blame.
Heading to the police station, Bernie prepares to make a complaint, but then turns around to see Craig Tinker (Colson Smith) and his colleagues emerge with a birthday cake for Kit.
Penny dropping, Bernie quickly realises she is more than likely looking at her son.
Later in the week, Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank) is at the hospital with Paul.

Just as he’s about to reverse his car into a disabled parking bay, another vehicle swoops in. Luckily, Kit is there and flashes his ID, forcing the other driver to move.
Returning home, Billy and Paul tell Bernie about Kit and she is quietly buoyed by the kind gesture.
Heading to the police station, Bernie thanks Kit for the kindness he showed Paul, imploring him to give her a chance to explain her side of the story.
But will he listen?
