Corsair bleaches its RMx Shift Series PSUs

Corsair has finally launched a white variant of its RMx Shift Series of ATX 3.0 power supplies. Now, you won’t need to panda your pigmentless build to keep side-mounted PSU cables.

The brand debuted its first wave of RMx Shift power supply units early in 2023, packing all the usual suspects. A zero RPM 140mm fan for loads under 50%, PCIe 5.0 compatibility, and an 80 Plus Gold rating for efficiency; it’s all there. It even comes in four different capacities with a choice of 750W, 850W, 1000W, and 1200W.

What makes RMx Shift different is that the fully modular cable inputs sit on the side. Why, might you ask? Corsair says it’s neater this way, and it makes upgrading your PC that much easier. I’ve never been a fan of messing around underneath a PSU shroud.

This flexibility does come with a caveat: versatility. Your PC case needs enough rear clearance to route the wires, which is something many chassis already suffer from. I can’t tell you the number of fights I’ve had getting a side panel to fit, dodging the bulge that comes with too many cables.

Just because it can fit in most cases being up to 210mm long build, that doesn’t mean it’ll be compatible. It’s worth checking the Corsair PC builder tool to see which ones support the feature. This will only highlight Corsair cases, of course, but it should give you a good baseline.

I haven’t tested it myself, but the idea makes a fantastic pairing with Corsair 2500X or 2500D cases. These are designed to work with MSI Project Zero, which also tackles the endless mission of bettering cable management. Behind your motherboard might start to get a little crowded, but it’s a small price to pay for cleanliness.

Corsair RMx Shift Series is already on digital shelves, although availability will depend on your region. It’s backed by a ten-year warranty, so don’t be afraid to push it to its limits.
