Corsair combines performance and aesthetics with LX fan series

Corsair has announced a new fan series compatible with its iCUE Link power and control system. The new lineup brings brilliant lighting effects and improved performance to lower price brackets.

The iCUE Link LX fan series will be available in 120mm or 140mm sizes and in black or white colours. All models are 25mm thick, featuring a low friction design using Magnetic Dome Bearings, offering superior longevity at lower noise levels. On the back side, we find some air-guiding fins that are said to improve airflow direction, keeping it focused on the target. According to Corsair, this increases fin coverage on radiators, which in turn delivers lower temperatures.

You can purchase 120mm models individually or in triple pack bundles, whereas the 140mm format only comes in single or dual fan packs. However, both dual and triple fan bundles feature Corsair’s iCUE Link System Hub, which is not the case for individual fans. This means that you’ll have to purchase it separately if, for some reason, you only need one fan.

Each fan is equipped with 18 RGB zones spread between the central hub and the outer ring, offering a heap of lighting effects to choose from – the Time Warp mode is my favourite thanks to its static blades illusion.

Each 120mm fan supposedly touts between 0.13 and 5.22mmH2O of static pressure and 9.75 to 69.9cfm of airflow when rotating between 400 and 2,400rpm, delivering around 10 to 36dBA of noise. The 140mm version, on the other hand, sits around 0.11 to 4.86mmH2O of pressure with 10.74 to 84.7cfm at 350 to 2,000rpm, resulting in 10 to 36dBA of noise. A Zero RPM mode is also available to completely eliminate sound, only spinning when your system needs it.

To make all of the above go smoothly, Corsair has integrated its daisy-chainable iCUE Link system, which allows you to power and control multiple fans via a single cable. Overall, it’s a nice package for those building a new PC.

The iCUE Link LX RGB fans are backed by a five-year warranty. This new series will slot between the high-end iCUE Link QX series and the stripped-down iCUE Link RX.
