He’s one of the most revered artists in country music history, but Tim McGraw is now almost unrecognisable thanks to a demure makeover.
The chart-topping songwriter is no stranger to showing off his buff physique, having clearly worked hard in the gym to build up his muscles.
However, in a recent outing, the 57-year-old star ditched his signature bicep-baring tank top and cowboy hat to reveal a much more modest image.
Ever the family man, Tim joined his wife, Faith Hill, at the documentary premiere for Beatles ’64 in New York City on Sunday.
Posing at Hudson Square Theatre, the beloved husband and wife duo looked cosy just weeks after celebrating 28 years of marriage.
Rocking a very different look to the one we typically see him in on stage, Tim wore a purple turtleneck and fitted dark trousers.
Perhaps the most jarring change of all, though, were the locks on his head, no longer covered by his signature hat.
Giving fans a rare glimpse at his hair, the musician’s dark mane was on display, as was his salt-and-pepper stubble.
For years, Tim has been at the centre of speculation that he relies on hair pieces to thicken up his locks.
However, he has chosen to keep schtum on rumours that he’s balding and has never addressed whether he does or doesn’t wear a toupee.
Meanwhile, This Kiss hitmaker Faith, also 57, stood proudly beside him, looking ultra stylish in a whit button-down shirt with a black blazer and light-wash jeans.
She wore her gorgeous blonde curls in a voluminous style and beamed as she wrapped an arm around her husband.
Speaking previously about his iconic look, Tim revealed why he always wears a hat, admitting it stems somewhat from insecurities about his appearance.
‘Of course the cowboy hat is who I am in my music, but I’ve never been real comfortable with the way I looked without a hat.’
He added to People: ‘I have what I call a “fivehead.” I don’t have a forehead; I have a fivehead. I always felt that I had a really big head.’
The Grammy winner is trying to take it in his stride as he gets older, though.
‘But that’s one of those things about getting older,’ he added. ‘You get more comfortable with yourself.’
Tim is rarely seen without some form of headwear, whether it’s his classic cowboy hat or a baseball cap.
It might surprise fans to learn, however, that he doesn’t own many, nor does he like to splash the cash on them.
‘I don’t pay very much for my cowboy hats,’ he told Esquire.
‘I wear a black straw hat made by Resistol. It takes about three shows to really sweat through it to fall into place and start looking good.
‘And then I’ll wear it three months longer than I should just because I don’t want to break in a new one.’
When he’s not belting out his tunes to packed crowds of adoring fans, the American star, who has released 16 albums and topped the Country Albums Chart with 10 of them, is a doting family guy.
He and Faith proudly share three daughters, Gracie, Maggie, and Audrey, with Gracie having made her off-Broadway debut in Babe this year.
