The increasing affordability of OLED monitors is a pleasing sight, but discounts on these displays are that much more satisfying to behold. Case in point, LG’s 27GS95QE-B. Don’t let its nondescript name fool you, as this is a screen that should satisfy practically any gamer hoping to upgrade the image quality of their setup.
LG 27GS95QE-B
Take your gaming setup to breath-taking new heights with LG 27GS95QE-B.
Over on Amazon US, the cost of 27GS95QE-B has fallen by a chonky 30% ($273), making it a much more agreeable $626.99. That’s the cheapest it’s been since August, making it a better buy now than it was during Black Friday. UK shoppers can enjoy an even larger 37% ($372) discount, driving the final total down to £627.99, just £1 shy of its best ever price.
The 27in panel at the heart of 27GS95QE-B arrives with a native resolution of 2560×1440 and a refresh rate of 240Hz. These specifications make for a sharp and responsive display in isolation, but the monitor’s 0.03ms (GtG) response times only further enhance the gaming experience it offers.
Better still, you’ll get the full-fat experience regardless of whether you connect your system to 27GS95QE-B via the single DisplayPort 1.4 header or two HDMI 2.1 ports. There’s even room for two of your peripherals round back courtesy of the built-in USB hub.
You can expect high contrast and inky blacks from 27GS95QE-B thanks to its array of self-emissive pixels. LG also rates typical DCI-P3 coverage at 98.5%, translating to rich and varied colours across SDR and HDR content. Like other OLED monitors, though, it can’t get especially bright, with a peak brightness of 1,000nits. With this in mind, you’re best placing it in a dark room to get the most out of its screen.
To mitigate any potential burn-in, LG packs several OLED Care features into 27GS95QE-B’s OSD. You can turn them off if you’d prefer, but this will naturally decrease the lifespan of the display. For extra piece of mind, each units comes with a two-year warranty as standard to cover this specific issue.
As someone that will always buy OLED if possible, 27GS95QE-B ticks all the right boxes in my eyes as a relatively affordable QHD option. You will need suitably powerful hardware to drive all its pixels and hit its maximum refresh rate, but it should perform excellently at lower frame rates too.
