MSI has some of the best gaming laptops on the market. The only problem is that dreaded portability tax that often raises the barrier to entry, as gaming on the go isn’t cheap. Grabbing a good deal is the best solution to this, and no discount is better than this MSI Cyborg 15.

Chopping 42% off its RRP on Amazon UK, the notebook is nearly half price, bringing it down to £754.16. It’s the cheapest we’ve seen this spec by a considerable amount. We’ve checked other regions and can’t see anything remotely close, as the same laptop remains over $1,000 in the US and €1,500 in Europe.

Under the hood, MSI settles for a slightly older Intel Core i5-12450H CPU, but it still holds up well in 2024. 16GB of DDR5 RAM should keep you ticking over for a while. Granted, game system requirements are rising, but few rarely need more than this.

The Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 graphics card pairs well with the 15.6in screen. It can reach the 144Hz refresh rate ceiling at 1080p resolution in a fair few games. In those it can’t, the GPU can use DLSS 3 in supported titles for a helping hand. It’s not a feature we see as often as we’d like, but it is like magic granting additional frames for free.

You might’ve heard that 8GB of video memory isn’t enough in some games, but this only really applies to higher resolutions and those that use HD texture packs. It’s no bother here, as MSI Cyborg 15 is a well thought out spec.

Perhaps the biggest weakness is the 512GB NVMe SSD. Since Windows 11 Home Plus takes up 64GB. you should keep an extra 20GB free for future updates, and Microsoft’s OS notoriously doesn’t recognise the full amount, your available storage space shrinks quite quickly. It’s not ideal when game sizes have ballooned.

Uninstalling and reinstalling games every so often isn’t so bad when you consider how much of a steal this is. Besides, you could put some of your extra savings towards an external NVMe SSD to make up the difference. Plug it into the USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-C and you won’t even notice you’re not playing on an internal drive.

As Amazon states, this is a limited-time deal, so you’ll have to hurry. Don’t sweat it if you realise it’s not for you. You can try it out and send it back to Amazon within 30 days for a full refund.
