Absence of ad-hoc staff and electoral materials for the conduct of Local Government Area (LGA) elections in Plateau State has raised concerns as voters wonder about in disbelief.
Blueprint reports that the situation which is same in Jos North LGA spreads to Jos East and other parts of the state.
As at 11am, Blueprint correspondent couldn’t sight any ad-hoc staff, talk more electoral materials at various voting centres, particularly at Ali Kazaure ward, Jabong Ward and Naraguta B ward, respectively.
Some prospective voters said they were disappointed with the situation, where they went to the polling units but no staff of the Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC), was present to accredit them to vote.
“I was here since 7:30am so that I can vote candidates of my choice, but you can see no one to attend to us. I am surprised that such a thing is happening with all the assurance of preparedness by the PLASIEC,” a voter who identified himself as Usman Hassan said.
It is further observed that at some electoral wards, PLASIEC officials are sourcing for replacement of ad-hoc staff, after earmarking bogus budget meant for training, operations and other election expenses.
