Dragon’s Dogma 2’s PC character is a genius move for two reasons

Dragon’s Dogma 2, the follow-up to the action RPG that should have been more popular than Skyrim, is coming out very soon, and players are already getting into the weird world it offers. That’s because there’s a free character creator that you can download right now, and then spend as long as you like in, creating all sorts of weird and wonderful things. It’s good for players and the game itself too, and we’re going to explain why.

Word of weird-looking mouth

First of all, this is an excellent way to get the game into the minds of every gamer going. Not only do we all love free things, and we do, but it also leads to people’s creations becoming rather popular online. Of course, that’s only true if the character creator is good and lets you make things like, oh, let’s say, a messed-up Pikachu, an unerringly accurate Kratos, or Leon from Resident Evil in all his glory.

Seriously, there are so many incredible looks on the Internet at the moment, with Eurogamer, Gamesradar, and Forbes all having articles on just how in-depth the character creator is. It seems as though you can create basically any humanoid you can think of, which means you could theoretically make yourself in the game if you took enough time. Speaking of time…

Don’t waste time in the full game

If you’re a PC player, you’ll likely be familiar with the rules of Steam’s refund policy. Basically, you can get a full refund for a game if you’ve spent less than two hours in it, and you do it shortly after purchase. While this is occasionally abused for small indie games, which sucks, it can be a blessing for some games because it’s hard to know if you’re really going to like something ahead of time.

Because your characters can be carried over to the main game, you can spend however long you want in this free creator absolutely perfecting the look of yourself and your main pawn, which is an in-game helper basically, and even store a few extras just in case. Then, you can start the new game with those characters ready to go, and actually get a full two hours in the game to see if you vibe with it.

Of course, you can also just play the first Dragon’s Dogma, which is a stellar RPG that’s usually on sale for fairly cheap and will give you a good idea of the kind of combat and story you can expect from the sequel, although the sequel is far larger, with a more alive-feeling world, and also substantially better graphics. Look, Dragon’s Dogma is great, and everyone should be excited about the sequel.
