The August bank holiday weekend is finally here and that can only mean one thing – traffic and travel disruption.

Drivers across the UK are being warned they will face severe congestion on major roads with traffic jams highly likely.

Transport experts have said the worst times for gridlock are expected to be between 10am and 1pm today.

If you’re thinking of using the trains instead, you might also be out of luck with Network Rail carrying out major engineering projects, affecting three intercity lines serving London.

Meanwhile airports will also be trying to cope with one of the busiest weekends of the year and will be hoping to avoid the air traffic control outage disaster experienced 12 months ago.
