Dua Lipa has gone viral for her response to a spontaneous Glastonbury performance she definitely wasn’t expecting.
The Training Day hitmaker, 28, smiled through gritted teeth for an impressive 30 seconds before walking off as a fan accosted her with their musical talents.
Having performed her heart out as the Friday night headliner at this year’s Worthy Farm festival, Dua was enjoying some downtime wandering around the 15000-acre site when a fan armed with a ukulele stopped her.
The Camden busker introduced himself, and said: ‘I want to play you 30 seconds of my song and if you like it, I just want your reaction.’
As she reluctantly agreed glancing at the camera, he then launched into exactly 30 seconds of his ukulele song before Dua cut him off and said, ‘Well done mate. So good, so good,’ before attempting to escape.
‘Can I get a hug?’ he asked, and she politely obliged before striding away from the scene with boyfriend Callum Turner, who was waiting in the wings.
While Dua said the performance was good and did stick around to listen, her facial expression during the encounter has fans in bits online, as they compared it to other scenarios.
‘Me pretending I understood the directions a local gave me when I know full well I’ll google map it a block later,’ wrote @corydunco, while @hrryonvinyl said: ‘new reaction gif unlocked.’
‘Every woman on earth can identify with Dua Lipa waiting for the guy to stop playing guitar,’ said @AnnaIvey, while @ivanxsever quipped: ‘My face when someone’s explaining board game rules to me.’
‘Her range of facial expressions is…. she was looking for the FIRST opportunity to escape,’ noted @GgV0gue, as @JonnyBsmooth said: ‘Didn’t even notice that but it’s almost exactly 30 seconds that she lets him play haha.’
Summing up the video @sighzach wrote: ‘I’m crying she did not give a single f**k.’
Another Glastonbury-goer recognised the keen busker as someone he camped next to for the festival.
@TomFlanno27 said: ‘Had the worst 5 days at glasto with him staying next to our tent, so I know her pain.’
Almost 100,000 people watched Dua’s electric Pyramid Stage performance on Friday evening which was met with rave reviews as her party anthems and fireworks lit up the festival.
‘It’s a lot, innit? A lot to take in,’ she told the crowd. ‘Little me would be beside herself right now.’
For the reminder of the weekend, Dua told the crowd that she couldn’t wait to party in the best place in the world.
Following her huge Glastonbury moment, the star has announced the details of her next plan – a concert at Wembley Stadium next year.
Sharing the news online, Dua said: ‘There couldn’t be a better time to share this with you all! I am still flying high from the magic of headlining the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury this weekend, and I am absolutely thrilled to announce I’ll be playing Wembley Stadium this time next year.’
Dua will perform at Wembley Stadium on June 20, 2025, with tickets going on sale to the public from July 12 via her website.
The musician’s Wembley announcement comes as she prepares to tour in support of her third album, Radical Optimism.
