Eamonn Holmes has returned to the internet following confirmation that he and Ruth Langsford are divorcing after 14 years of marriage.

He has not, however, addressed the headline-grabbing news.

Taking to Instagram on Saturday (May 25), hours after the story first broke, Eamonn shared a photo with his nearly 800,000 followers.

It was a sketch of him with Sir Alex Ferguson to mark Manchester United’s win over Manchester City.

‘My God , what a Cuo Final , what a Result ! #MUFC European football next season too . The Magic of The Cuo . Congratulations to the whole squad 👏👏👏👏 [sic]’, his caption read.

Naturally, fans in the comments were keen for him to address the elephant in the room.

‘Really sorry to hear about you and Ruth x’, wrote maria_mari_marie_.

‘So sad to hear about your news – you were always my dream team 😢 You had such great chemistry … I wish you both the very best going forward ….’, commented howellsnk11.

Others probed for an explanation behind the power couple’s split, while fellow commenters reminded them it is ‘none of our business’.

This weekend, a spokesperson for Eamonn and Ruth, both aged 64, confirmed to Metro.co.uk that they had parted ways.

A statement read: ‘Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes have confirmed their marriage is over and they are in the process of divorcing.’

The ex-This Morning hosts married in June 2010 and have one son, Jack, who was born in 2002.

They tied the knot over a decade after they started dating, with Eamonn already a dad to three children – Declan, Rebecca, and Niall – from his first marriage.
