EastEnders star Danny Dyer has opened up about losing weight through intermittent fasting.

The acting legend, who played Mick Carter in the BBC One soap, has lost a stone through the diet plan, which involves not eating at specific times of the day.

Danny, 46, said ‘I’ve lost about a stone. For eight hours I can eat and drink what I want as long as I fast for 16 hours and drink water too.

‘People have come up to me and said it doesn’t work for them and I tell them they must be cheating.’

Continuing his chat with the Daily Mirror, he said: ‘Ideally, you should break your fast with something healthy. Sometimes for me that has been a pint of Stella, which isn’t ideal, but needs must.

Danny will appear in the next celebrity series of The Great British Bake Off, which raises money for the charity Stand Up to Cancer.

Featuring alongside Gabby Logan, Fern Brady and Mel B, Danny said the prospect of breaking his diet wasn’t a huge challenge, due to him enjoying savoury food more.

He previously said: ‘I am more of a savoury man to be honest. I don’t mind a bit of chocolate now and then, but I am not really a sweet man. So being in the tent doesn’t really affect my fasting.

‘I did break my fast on day one as I needed to eat some breakfast. I am not really a breakfast man, but I needed some energy. Usually I fast until maybe about two or three o’clock in the afternoon. So that’d be my first sort of meal. Sometimes I hang on until dinner time. It does work for me.’
