EastEnders has confirmed that Monday’s (April 22) edition will be delayed on BBC iPlayer due to scenes having only been filmed over the weekend.
The much-loved BBC One soap, as fans know, has been dropping episodes from 6am on iPlayer – ahead of TV broadcast – for over a year now, with a large number of fans opting to watch as soon as it becomes available.
Relatable.
Monday’s offering, however, will be somewhat delayed due to editing in brand new scenes, which were only filmed on Sunday (April 21) at the London Marathon.
Jamie Borthwick and Emma Barton took part in the marathon as part of an EastEnders storyline, which saw respective characters Jay Brown and Honey Mitchell run in honour of their beloved Lola Pearce (Danielle Harold).
Lola died of a brain tumour last year.
EastEnders confirmed in a social media post, shared on its official Instagram account, that Emma and Jamie had completed the marathon and that the scenes filmed on the day in question will be edited into Monday’s edition of the show.
As a result, the episode won’t be up at 6am and will instead be available to stream on BBC iPlayer from 1pm in the afternoon.
If you’re not an iPlayer sort of person and prefer your daily Walford fix in the evenings then you’ll be pleased to know that there will be no change to the TV schedule in this respect, with the episode set to hit screens at its usual time of 7:30pm.
Discussing taking part in the London Marathon, Emma said: ‘It’s pretty exciting because it’s never been done before!’
‘It’s a massive thing, the marathon. We’re a London-based show and we’re doing something that’s never been achieved before.
‘So, it is very exciting. It’s very nerve-wracking.’
The big day will also see Billy Mitchell (Perry Fenwick) contemplate popping the question to Honey.
Unfortunately, things don’t quite go to plan and Billy loses the ring, completely derailing his attempt! But will it be a happy occasion for all involved?
You’ll just have to tune in to find out!
EastEnders drops the episode in question at 1pm on BBC iPlayer or watch on BBC One at 7:30pm.
