Former EastEnders star Ricky Champ has bagged himself a major role in a Jason Statham movie two years after leaving Albert Square.
The soap actor was well known for playing Walford’s Stuart Highway on the BBC drama.
Following his soap departure he appeared on the West End as part of the cast of 2:22 A Ghost Story, and now Ricky is part of an exciting new Hollywood project titled, Levon’s Trade.
The action movie will see actor Jason Statham playing the titular character, a man who was previously a legend in the black ops trade before leaving the world behind to ‘go straight’ and be a simple construction worker.
While details of Ricky’s role are a mystery, the star shared a screengrab of the announcement article and penned on Instagram: ‘Had my first day on this today… Can’t wait for you all to see it!’
The star’s wife, Sammy Champ, also cheered him on and wrote: ‘[Ricky Champ] started filming a part in this today. Who’s up for a mass cinema trip to watch it when it comes out!!’
Ahead of his new role, Ricky previously opened up about the potential for his character to return to EastEnders as it appeared he was leaving the soaps world for good.
He told Digital Spy about Stuart’s current whereabouts: ‘He didn’t die. He rode off into the sunset.
‘I think he’s somewhere in the North Circular living with Rainie. You never know.’
The actor also commented on the development his onscreen persona went through during his time as an Albert Square resident.
Ricky said: ‘In EastEnders I went from villain to hero to dad. It was amazing, doing that for five years with a character’s arc. It felt weird leaving him.’
