Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner has two big injury headaches after the win over Aston Villa on Sunday, as Eberechi Eze and Adam Wharton were forced out of the contest.

The Eagles booked their place in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals thanks to a 2-1 win at Villa Park, with a trip to Arsenal their prize for doing so.

Eze opened the scoring but had to be taken off after just 18 minutes, while Wharton limped out of the match 27 minutes in.

It is a hamstring problem for Eze, although Glasner is not yet sure of the severity, while Wharton was dealing with a groin problem going into the match which he has clearly not recovered from.

The Palace boss could offer little update on Eze, but sounded relaxed about the nature of Wharton’s issue.

‘Ebs is too early. He wanted to (come off). He signalled to us. He said it wasn’t possible to continue,’ said Glasner.

‘I hope that it’s not too serious but I don’t know. It’s not the best information that I got today that Ebs had to leave the pitch.

‘With Adam, I’m very positive because it’s nothing new. I have spoken about it many times – he’s had this groin problem for months. We thought that needed a break today but yesterday he gave me the thumbs up that he was fine.

‘We did it well against Tottenham, so we wanted to keep most of the team. Ismaila Sarr (was left out) because he had so many sprints against Tottenham.’

After eight Premier League games without a win, the Eagles finally picked up their first league win of the campaign last time out against Tottenham at Selhurst Park.

They impressive followed that up with the win at Villa and now go to Wolves on Saturday evening looking to make it three victories on the spin.

Glasner remains without Chadi Riad, Matheus França, Chris Richards, while Jefferson Lerma is a doubt.
