Operatives of the Enugu Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC have arrested and detained 36 suspected internet scammers in Onitsha, Anambra State.
The Anti-graft agency disclosed that the suspects were apprehended on October 11, following actionable intelligence indicating their involvement with suspected online fraudulent activities.
Investigations conducted by the agency showed that the suspects created foreign social media profiles impersonating foreign nationals to defraud victims.
Following their arrests, the commission recovered and confiscated eight exotic cars including sophisticated brands of mobile phones and laptops.
The commission added that the suspects will be charged to court to face the law immediately after investigations are completed.
