Emily Atack, who is heavily pregnant with her first baby, shared a sweet moment with her partner Dr Alistair Garner this week.
The Inbetweeners star, 34, announced her pregnancy with her scientist boyfriend Alistair in December, telling her followers she was ‘so happy and utterly terrified at the same time’.
The actor, also known for her role in Keith Lemon shows, was forced to hit back against trolls ridiculing her for holding her baby bump after she was photographed in the stance regularly over her pregnancy.
Despite the challenges along the way, Emily and Alistair are showing a united front on the eve of the birth of their baby, a boy, as she revealed the baby’s gender on BBC Breakfast in March.
Emily was seen furniture shopping at outlets such as DFS and Sofology wearing a dark blue undervest and matching jeans and jean jacket.
At one point she was seen taking a deep breath while she held her bump, and in another moment, Alistair, in a black top and shorts, cradled her midriff as they strolled down the street and sweetly held hands.
The actor is currently campaigning with Right to Equality to tighten laws around sexual consent, in hopes of building a brighter future for her son and his generation.
‘I want him to be a part of a really positive change and I want him to grow up knowing he can talk about these things openly and enjoy his life. I want him to be on the right side of history,’ she said when she was six months pregnant.
She also fiercely defended women who are pregnancy-shamed on social media after she was questioned on why she was regularly caressing her midriff.
‘I find this so interesting,’ she said at the time.
‘I, like so many women, get so many comments and questions like this (mainly from men) asking why I feel the need to always be cradling my baby bump, or touching it in some way.
‘It seems to really irritate some people. My only answer is that it’s my baby I’m physically and literally carrying. It’s one of the most natural instincts in the world. It’s a sign of affection and protection. And I’m probably hungry too.’
The star has shared steady pictures of her pregnancy progress on social media since she announced the happy news and there have been reports that the pair have moved in together, according to the Sun.
The parents-to-be have known each other since 1994, when Alistair’s father Dr Stephen Garner married Emily’s aunt Jane Robbins. According to a MailOnline source, they have grown closer over the past 12 months.
‘[The pregnancy] was unexpected but their family is delighted for them. They make a great couple and everybody is excited for their new arrival,’ the insider said.
Her uncle died in July last year and she paid tribute to him in a heartfelt Instagram post.
‘[He was] the smartest and funniest soul you could ever wish to have in your company,’ she wrote at the time.
