Belle Dingle’s (Eden Taylor-Draper) life with Tom King (James Chase) took an incredibly dark turn in Thursday’s (June 27) episode of Emmerdale as she told her husband she aborted their baby.

At the start of this week, Tom was rushed to hospital after getting electrocuted in a barn.

While this was going on, Belle had started to come to terms with the fact she is being abused by Tom. She was planning on heading to Scotland to see her father for a bit of a break but then got word of Tom’s accident.

In tonight’s episode of the ITV soap, Belle was still plotting her escape to Scotland but when she heard a knock, she got a huge shock when she opened the front door to see Jimmy (Nick Miles) with Tom in a wheelchair.

As Jimmy left, Tom turned his attention to Belle and her mental health. He wasn’t interested in talking about his accident and the fact he discharged himself from the hospital too early – he wanted to pick at Belle’s emotions after she told him about her miscarriage.

Last week, Belle told Tom that she had lost their baby. She had to lie because she knew if Tom found out it was actually an abortion, he would become a very angry man.

The more Tom probed Belle, the worse she felt. The tense conversation was then interrupted by Charity (Emma Atkins), who stopped by to check in on Tom.

Charity left Dale Head after Tom revealed Belle’s miscarriage and said she felt shame because her body couldn’t carry their baby. Poor Belle kept silent during this entire conversation, leaving Charity devastated she apparently felt that way.

While Tom and Belle continued talking, Charity was in the pub back room chatting to Noah (Jack Downham). Charity felt suspicious of Tom and said no one is ever as perfect as him – he must be hiding something.

Back at their home, Tom had pushed a broken Belle too far. She ended up confessing that she actually had an abortion and as expected, Tom was raging.

Due to the fact Tom was in a wheelchair, he wasn’t able to hurt Belle physically, so he attacked her with words and she felt devastated.

A little while later, after Tom spoke to Kerry (Laura Norton) outside, he peered through a window and saw Belle crying on the floor cuddling Piper. He had an evil look in his eyes – the plan to put all the blame on Belle was working – again.

Inside, Belle begged Tom to not leave her. She said she hates herself for what’s happened and will always be sorry – and Tom loved every single second.

Tom told Belle that he won’t ever leave her because he loves her too much. As a relieved Belle hugged her partner, we saw Tom smiling.

Utterly horrific.
