England have confirmed their squad numbers ahead of their upcoming Euro 2024 campaign.

Earlier this week Gareth Southgate confirmed the identities of the 26 players who will represent their country in Germany over the coming month.

The England boss made some brave and contentious decisions which saw the likes of Jack Grealish, Harry Maguire and James Maddison fail to make the final cut.

Despite the notable absentees, Southgate has selected an exciting squad, packed with attacking talent and several promising youngsters such as Kobbie Mainoo and Adam Wharton.

There are, however, concerns over England’s defence with question marks hanging over the fitness of John Stones, Kieran Trippier and Luke Shaw.

Manchester City centre-half Stones is almost certain to start and was taken off as a precaution following last night’s shock defeat against Iceland at Wembley.

Stones’ partner is up for debate, but the fact that Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi suggests he will be given the nod over Brighton stalwart Lewis Dunk who has been handed No.15.

England, meanwhile, begin their quest for Euros glory against Serbia next Sunday, and Southgate hopes the shock defeat to Iceland will help focus minds ahead of what will be a testing campaign.

He said: ‘It does focus the mind, it does focus on how we have to drive the team, the sort of reaction we need.

‘That any sort of complacency that talent is going to get us this trophy and that we only have to sort of stroll in… I mean, football is not like that.

‘You’ve got to be spot on in every aspect of the game to win any game at this level and we were a long way short of that tonight.

‘Iceland deserved their win.

‘They had a couple of other chances on the break that we didn’t deal with, so I think it really focuses our minds to drive the team over the next week.’
