Every Song & When They Play In Netflix’s Christmas Movie

Spoiler alert: The following article contains spoilers from Hot Frosty.

Netflix’s Hot Frosty joins the group of Christmas movies coming to the streaming service in 2024, and, unsurprisingly, its soundtrack is full of holiday tunes (and a couple of recognizable non-holiday songs). The fantasy romantic comedy film, directed by Jerry Ciccoritti and written by Russell Hainline, chronicles the story of a snowman who comes to life and falls in love. Perhaps Hot Frosty is a typical, cheesy, feel-good Christmas movie, but its soundtrack should appease any audience.

The cast of Hot Frosty includes Lacey Chabert as Kathy and Dustin Milligan as Jack. Kathy, who lost her husband two years prior to the events of the film, owns a restaurant in the small town of Hope Springs. Although she has a great support system, Kathy routinely fails to take care of herself (and her house). However, that all changes when Kathy wraps a magical scarf around a snowman someone built for the town’s contest. As a result, the snowman, Jack, comes to life and falls in love with Kathy and vice versa.

When Every Song On The Hot Frosty Soundtrack Plays In The Documentary

Hot Frosty Features Holiday & Non-Holiday Music

“Jingle Bell Rock” by Bobby Helms – At the beginning of Hot Frosty, Lacey Chabert’s character, Kathy, begrudgingly wakes up for work. Since the heat is broken in her house, Kathy bundles up and gets ready to leave, all while the festive song, “Jingle Bell Rock,” plays.

“Make It Feel Like Christmas” by Simon Tellier and Victoria Hills – After Mel and Theo gift Kathy the (unbeknownst to her) magical scarf, the protagonist walks through the town square as “Make It Feel Like Christmas” can be heard in the background. Kathy walks up to a snowman, places the scarf around his neck, and the rest is history.

“The Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy” by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky (EDM Version) – Once Kathy leaves the snowman, he turns into a human named Jack. During his transformation, an EDM version of Tchaikovsky’s “The Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy” plays in the Netflix Christmas movie.

“Toccata and Fugue in D minor” by Johann Sebastian Bach – Kathy leaves Jack home alone, where he watches many TV shows and movies, including Nosferatu, which features Bach’s “Toccata and Fugue in D minor.”

“Motor City Santa” by David Westlake and Nicholas Dover – Jack is working on the roof shirtless when Jane (played by NCIS‘s Lauren Holly) drives by and gawks at him, causing her to crash her crash. Before the accident, though, “Motor City” Santa was playing on the radio.

“Wonderful Time Of Year” by Jeremy Lister – Jack volunteers to help set up the gymnasium for the local middle school’s dance, and while working, Jeremy Lister’s “Wonderful Time Of Year” can be heard. The song flows over into the next couple of scenes, which include Kathy and Jack baking sugar cookies (and Kathy biting off the head of a snowman cookie) and decorating a Christmas tree at her house.

Hot Frosty Review: Netflix’s Attempt At A Spicy Christmas Movie Is As Blandly Sweet As Ever

Netflix’s Hot Frosty attempts to inject some flavor into their traditional Christmas movie formula, but the results are still generically saccharine.

“Oh, Pretty Woman” by Roy Orbison – After Jack asks Kathy to the dance, and she says yes, Kathy takes Jack on a shopping trip à la Pretty Woman. Fittingly, Roy Orbison’s “Oh, Pretty Woman” plays while Jack tries on different outfits to find something to wear to the dance.

“We Always Had Christmas” by Madisyn Gifford – The transition from Jack giving Kathy the snowflake necklace to the school dance is punctuated with Madisyn Gifford’s “We Always Had Christmas.”

“If I Could Touch the Sky” by Jesse Legallais – At the middle school dance, Jack asks Kathy to dance with him, and “If I Could Touch the Sky” is the song that plays while they sway back and forth.

“Like A Holiday” by FaSho – Following Jack and Kathy’s slow dance, a faster, more upbeat song (“Like A Holiday”) begins to play, and Jack performs a choreographed dance with the rest of the kids. However, he starts to melt, so, Kathy takes him outside to get some fresh air.

“Jingle Bells” by Dennis van Aarssen and Jazz Gents – During the Christmas party at Kathy’s restaurant, “Jingle Bells” can be heard in the cafe (up until Sheriff Hunter arrives to arrest Jack).

“feelslikeimfallinginlove” by Coldplay (feat. Zerb) – At the end of Hot Frosty, Kathy’s kiss saves Jack from melting and turns him into a human. The happy couple and the whole town celebrate while “feelslikeimfallinginlove” plays in the background.

Where To Listen To The Hot Frosty Soundtrack

Netflix Hasn’t Released The Soundtrack

Unfortunately, Netflix has not released an official soundtrack for Hot Frosty on any streaming platforms. So, fans will not be able to listen to the music on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, etc. Netflix didn’t even drop a playlist for Hot Frosty alongside its premiere on November 13, meaning that fans might have to create their own.
