Warning! This post contains SPOILERS for Skeleton Crew episodes 1 & 2Star Wars’ new show Skeleton Crew has debuted Jude Law’s mysterious new Jedi character. As seen at the end of the show’s premiere episodes, the group of kids from the planet At Attin were captured by several pirates. However, they aren’t alone in the brig, seeing as how they’ve now been joined by Jod Na Nawood and his apparent ability to use the Force.
At the end of Skeleton Crew episodes 1 & 2, Wim (Ravi Cabot-Conyers), Neel (Robert Timothy Smith), KB (Kyriana Kratter), and Fern (Ryan Kiera Armstrong) are trying to find their way back home, hoping to get directions back to their home world of At Attin. However, they were unaware The Onyx Cinder’s droid first mate SM-33 (Nick Frost) flew them to Port Borgo, a notorious shadow-port full of dangerous pirates. With the kids having encountered Jude Law’s mysterious character in the brig, here’s everything we know about Jod Na Nawood and his teased Jedi status in Skeleton Crew.
Jod Na Nawood Is A Prisoner At Port Borgo
Most Likely A Captive of Brutus
As seen in Skeleton Crew episode 2, the wolf-like Shistavanen named Brutus looks to be the lead pirate in charge. Ordering his fellow pirates to put the kids in the brig, Brutus seems to be just as intrigued as the other patrons at Port Borgo after Wim and Neel tried paying for their food with Old Republic credits, along with their claim that they’re from At Attin. Apparently, At Attin is a lost world in the Star Wars galaxy known only in legends and myth in connection with a “legendary eternal treasure”. Naturally, it makes sense that the pirates would want to know more.

Skeleton Crew has premiered on Disney+ with its first two episodes, featuring some very exciting and fun Easter eggs and Star Wars references.
It also follows that Jod Na Nawood similarly got on Brutus’ bad side at some point and has been in the brig ever since. Considering that Brutus was shown at the beginning of Skeleton Crew episode 1 staging an implied mutiny against his captain, it’s easy to put the pieces together that Jod was more than likely “Captain Silvo”, who failed to provide a promised score of credits during the show’s opening pirate raid scene. Likewise, he likely hadn’t tried escaping until now as there wouldn’t have been a ship or person willing to help him leave the shadow port (before the kids’ arrival).
Jod Na Nawood Certainly Seems To Have The Force
Bringing The Keys To His Hand
Despite being in the brig, Skeleton Crew episode 2 ends with Jod using the Force to bring the set of keys to his hand, leading the kids to believe that he’s a Jedi. That being said, there’s likely more than meets the eye to Jod, especially considering that the show is set during the New Republic Era after the fall of the Empire, a time when known Jedi Knights are very scarce. While he may be able to use the Force, it’s more likely that Jod Na Nawood is simply a former pirate captain, rather than being the heroic Jedi the kids think he is.
“It’s arguably more likely that Jod is a genuine Force-sensitive, though perhaps one who was never found by the Jedi Order and began a life of piracy instead…”
It’s possible that Jod could simply be a con man, faking the Force as has been seen before in Obi-Wan Kenobi with Kumail Nanjiani’s Haja Estree. Instead, it’s arguably more likely that Jod is a genuine Force-sensitive, though perhaps one who was never found by the Jedi Order and began a life of piracy instead. However, that’s likely not going to stop Jod from playing the part of a Jedi as Skeleton Crew continues, hoping to earn the kids’ trust and locate the treasure that’s supposedly on their mysterious hidden homeworld.
Is Jod Na Nawood Really The Pirate Captain Silvo?
The Captain Who Was Viciously Mutinied Upon In Skeleton Crew Episode 1
Like Jack Sparrow before him, the assumption to be made is that Jod was the pirate captain who was mutinied upon by a dissatisfied crew. After all, the helmeted modulation of Captain Silvo’s voice still sounds very much like Jude Law. Likewise, Jod being the former “Captain Silvo” does make sense based on how the premiere episodes end, especially if he plans to befriend the kids of Skeleton Crew to get what he wants, just like Treasure Island’s Long John Silver. At any rate, it’s going to be very interesting to learn more about Jod’s history, particularly when it comes to his apparent Force-sensitivity.
