Fallout Season 2 Adds First New Cast Member With Beloved ’90s Star

Fallout season 2 has added a beloved ‘90s child star to its cast roster. Based on the series of hit video games from Bethesda Game Studios, Fallout season 1 generated an overwhelmingly positive response from critics and audiences alike following its April 2024 release. Pulling in over 65 million viewers within its first 16 days on Prime Video, it would also go on to become the streaming platform’s second most-watched title of all-time. Plans for Fallout season 2 were officially greenlit just 8 days after the show’s debut, and filming is due to commence this November.

Building on the positive buzz surrounding the hit show’s return, Deadline is reporting that Prime Video has cast former child star Macaulay Culkin in a recurring role. While Prime Video is yet to comment on the casting or elaborate on his role, the report suggests that Culkin will be playing a “crazy genius-type character.” This latest casting marks a second outing for Culkin on Prime Video, having recently voiced a character in episode 1 of the animated series The Second Best Hospital in the Galaxy.

What Macaulay Culkin’s Casting Means For Fallout Season 2

Culkin Already Has Proven On Screen Chemistry With Walton Goggins

Perhaps best known for his role as Kevin McCallister in the first two Home Alone movies, Culkin quickly became one of the most recognizable child stars of the early ‘90s. While he would later take a break from acting following 1994’s Ritchie Rich, the early 2000s eventually saw him return to the spotlight via a series of smaller supporting roles, independent films, and voice work. More recently, he also joined the main cast of 2021’s American Horror Story: Double Feature, a role that earned him considerable acclaim.

Having previously played the estranged son of Goggins’ Baby Billy Freeman, hopefully this next onscreen team-up will provide plenty more opportunities to explore their unique onscreen chemistry.

Proving himself a seasoned and talented performer, Culkin’s addition to the Fallout season 2 cast will likely only serve to heighten anticipation for the show’s eventual return. In a show already full of delightfully offbeat and memorable characters, Culkin’s already proven comedic skills should fit right in alongside the likes of Ella Purnell, Aaron Moten, and his Righteous Gemstones co-star, Walton Goggins. Our Take On Who Culkin May Be Playing In Fallout Season 2

Culkin Could Be Connected To A Season 1 Fan Favorite

At this stage, little else is known about Culkin’s new Fallout character other than his description as an eccentric genius. However, it is possible that vague description could still connect him with Michael Emerson’s Dr. Siggi Wilzig. While Emerson’s character was killed throughout the events of Fallout season 1, and his severed head became the focus of much of the season’s subsequent plot, it is possible that season 2 could potentially see his character’s return via flashbacks.

With much of Wilzig’s time spent working on research for the Enclave still shrouded in mystery, Culkin could potentially assume the role of one of Emerson’s fellow scientists. Moreover, the introduction of yet another scientist could also hint at the existence of more, potentially world-changing secrets aside from Wilzig’s work on cold fusion. At this stage, however, this kind of speculation is little more than hearsay until far more concrete details are released around Culkin’s new character in Fallout season 2.
