FG Proposes N62,000 As New Minimum Wage But Labour Insists On N250,000

The federal government has proposed the sum of N62,000 as the new minimum wage to Organised Labour.

The amount was disclosed pm Friday shortly after the Tripartite Committee for the Minimum Wage .

But the Organised Labour has rejected the amount insisting on N250,000 as minimum wage.

This figure was proposed after the Minister of Finance Wale Edun revealed the minimum wage template earlier submitted to the President on Thursday, June 6, 2024, to the committee.

Recall that President Bola Tinubu mandated Edun
to come up with a realistic minimum wage offer to beat the one-week window issued by organised labour.

The figure represents a N2000 increase from the N60,000 earlier rejected by organised labour.

Details later…
