Former WWE superstar Cameron Grimes has branded himself a ‘Sexy Squidward’ after his latest transformation and we can’t unsee the SpongeBob SquarePants comparison.
The 30-year-old wrestler, who joined NXT in 2019 before moving up to SmackDown last year and later getting fired as part of roster releases in April, is looking ahead to his career outside WWE and looks unrecognisable in a new selfie.
Grimes, whose real name is Trevor Lee, is well known for his long locks and facial hair, but he’s ditched the beard and moustache for a dramatic style overhaul.
With his hair tied back into a bun, the former Million Dollar Champion posed for a mirror selfie in a sharp black shirt and matching trousers with a totally clean shaven face.
It’s a suave new look for Grimes, who jokingly warned fans about the ‘face reveal’ on his Instagram Story before sharing the snap, which he jokingly captioned: ‘Sexy Squidward.’
With his talents in the wrestling ring, we’re sure he’ll be doing much more than selling Krabby Patties in the near future!
Two months ago, Grimes was distraught when his five-year spell – which saw him hold the North American and Million Dollar Championships – come to a disappointing end.
He confirmed his exit in a devastating video on social media as he broke down in tears after getting off the phone to management.
‘Unfortunately, I have been released from my contract,’ he said, visibly choked up as he recalled telling his father he had signed to the company in 2019, before his death.
He cried: ‘I loved working here, I loved working at the WWE. I wanna thank absolutely everybody that’s helped me – I can sit here and name off a list of people, but the video might be a bit too long.
‘Even though you guys haven’t seen me in the past year, I’ve been trying my best to learn from everybody that’s come through, everybody that would let me sit there and listen.
‘But if you’re a fan of mine, I’m here to let you know that there’s a damn fire lit under my ass man. All I wanna do is work, all I’ve ever wanted to do is work. This is all I got, man!’
However, the underdog star vowed to come back stronger and prove a point to those who made the decision to cut him from the roster.
‘The good news is, there ain’t gonna be no stopping Trevor Lee now, let me tell you that. I love you guys, if you’re watching this I love you. We’re gonna figure this out,’ he promised.
Grimes competed in the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal over WrestleMania Weekend in Philadelphia, while his final WWE match was a loss to Bron Breakker on the April 12 edition of SmackDown.
WWE SmackDown airs Friday nights at 1am on TNT Sports 1.
