We’re sorry to say that you won’t get your Emmerdale fix tonight (Thursday, June 20th) – as ITV are airing coverage of Euro 2024 instead.
When it comes to changes to the soap schedules, Metro.co.uk has got you covered with everything you need to know, so let’s get to it!
To save you tuning into ITV this evening and expecting a trip to the Dales, we’ve got a look at what it’s being replaced with, and when you can next see it on your screens.
Plus a full guide to any future replacements…
What is replacing Emmerdale on ITV1 tonight?
Tonight, following a shorter ITV Evening News, Spain vs Italy will air on ITV1 from 7:15pm. Kick off is at 8pm, as both sides play their second group game of the campaign.
Note that England vs Denmark airs tonight, too, but on BBC One from 5pm.
The UEFA European Football Championship 2024 (or Euro 2024 as its known) takes place every four years, though the last one was held in 2021 due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
The first game of the group stages kicked off last Friday, June 14th.
When will we next see Emmerdale on our screens?
You’ll be glad to know that we head back to Emmerdale tomorrow (Friday, June 21st) at the normal time of 7:30pm.
There’s also an hour-long edition of Coronation Street following it, as usual.
We’ll see Kerry Wyatt (Laura Norton) get close with transphobic bully Josh (Osian Morgan) in The Woolie, secretly attempting to record their conversation on her phone to prove that son-in-law Matty Barton (Ash Palmisciano) is innocent, and didn’t mean to stab Samson Dingle (Sam Hall).
Sadly, the plan soon backfires!

Elsewhere, Dawn Fletcher (Olivia Bromley) admits to dad Will Taylor (Dean Andrews) that she’s terrified to hug the other kids at Home Farm for fears of picking up germs and passing them to son Evan, who is battling leukaemia.
Belle King (Eden Taylor-Draper) continues to hide the truth from husband Tom King (James Chase).
Will there be any further disruption?
I’m sorry to say that disruption to our visits to soapland can be expected through to the final in Berlin on Sunday, July 14th.
Luckily, ITVX have followed BBC iPlayer’s lead by adding episodes onto their streaming service from 7am on the morning of broadcast, so that you have some freedom on when you want to watch them.
