River State Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara has submitted an Abia born financial expert, Dr Samuel Anya as a commissioner nominee.
His name and other nominees were submitted to the Rivers State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation as Commissioners on Monday.
The request for their screening and confirmation was addressed to the Speaker of the house Rt. Hon. Victor Oko-Jumbo, and follows the guidelines of Section 192 of the 1999 Constitution, as amended.
Other names submitted to the house for screening includes Mr. Itamu Arugu, Dr. Rowland Obed Whyte, Hon. Samuel Eyiba and Sir Austin Emeka Nnadozie.
In the letter, Governor Fubara expressed his anticipation for the prompt attention of the House to this request and extended his highest regards to the Speaker.
The swift screening and confirmation of these nominees are expected to facilitate the ongoing governance activities in the state.
Dr Sam Anya was the 2023 PDP House of representatives aspirant for Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency.
Before his nomination, Dr Anya was the Leader of Non-Indigenes in Rivers State.
