A funeral worker was caught allegedly trying to smuggle a life-size sex doll out of a dead man’s home using a body bag.

Ryan Smith, 42, and a co-worker were sent to Rock Creek Apartments in Omaha, Nebraska, on October 6 to collect the body of a deceased man, state recent court filings.

‘Near the body on the bed was a very real life size version of an adult female,’ a Sarpy County Sheriff’s deputy wrote in an arrest affidavit obtained by The Smoking Gun.

‘Both of the males that came to collect the body made comments about the sex doll found on location.’

Smith and his co-worker entered the unit along with law enforcement officers who after they exited locked the home.

But later the same day, Smith allegedly returned to the apartment with a body bag and told the complex staff that he came on behalf of the sheriff’s office to take the ‘sex doll’ inside ‘for evidentiary purposes’.

Smith added that he needed to collect a stretcher that was left behind.

After allowing Smith to enter, a member of the management discovered the front door of the dead man’s unit ‘deadbolted and latched with the chain across the door’, according to the affidavit.

The complex manager upon confronting Smith found that his ‘shirt was untucked and his pants were in disarray’, states the affidavit.

Police said the sex doll was ‘sticky to the touch’.

The manager told Smith that he could not take anything from the dead man’s unit, and Smith on the way out apparently asked a janitor ‘when the manager of the apartment building left’ for the day.

Then the manager informed cops that she was afraid that Smith ‘was going to return to the complex and break in and steal the doll’, states the affidavit.

A District Court judge determined that Smith ‘unlawfully entered the apartment with a body bag, which is indicative based on circumstantial evidence, that he had the intent to take the “sex doll”‘.

Smith was employed with Mid America First Call, which deals with removing, transporting, embalming and cremating deceased individuals.

He has been charged with burglary, criminal trespassing and tampering with physical evidence, and is out on bond and awaiting his next court date.

The incident happened just a few weeks before a hospital security guard allegedly had sex with an elderly woman’s corpse in a morgue freezer that he was assigned to oversee in Phoenix, Arizona.

In another weird incident, a husband in 2019 murdered his wife and spent nearly $2,000 of her life insurance on a life-sized sex doll in Kansas.
