Fury Road In Reverent Review

Hideo Kojima praises both Furiosa and Mad Max mastermind George Miller in a review posted on social media. Kojima is a well-revered video game designer best known for Metal Gear Solid and Death Stranding. Releasing May 24, Furiosa is a prequel to 2015’s Mad Max: Fury Road, and will center around the titular character as she’s snatched from her home of the Green Place of Many Mothers and tries to make her way back. The film has already received its first reactions, which hint that the movie is on track for success.

Kojima has recently seen Furiosa ahead of its wide release and posted his glowing review on Instagram. Check out his post below:

Kojima starts his short review by saying Furiosa easily surpasses both the original film and Mad Max: Fury Road, adding that the franchise is at its max with the new movie. The video game designer then goes on to say that Miller was a great influence on his own work. He ends his post by saying that Miller is his “God” and that the Mad Max franchise is his Bible.

Early Reviews Of Furiosa Are A Good Sign For The Movie’s Success

While Kojima’s review might seem like an exaggeration, early reviews of Furiosa say otherwise. Early word is praising the prequel as an epic installment of grand filmmaking, complete with intense action sequences and thrilling visuals. Some reviews say that the movie is on a different gear than Mad Max: Fury Road but remains to be impressive in its own right, as it expands the intriguing lore and worldbuilding the franchise is known for.

Kojima isn’t the only creative singing Furiosa’s praises, as well. Shaun of the Dead and Baby Driver director Edgar Wright posted his own review of the film, essentially giving a glowing review to almost every aspect of the movie. He called Furiosa “intricate, detailed, and immersive,” saying that the planning behind the film is unreal. He, too, points out that the film is different from Mad Max: Fury Road, detailing that the prequel is more of a revenge epic than a prolonged chase.

All of these reviews bode well for Furiosa’s release later this month. While the film may not be exactly like its predecessor, early reviews seem to promise that it is as visceral, giving a similar experience complete with well choreographed action sequences and strong performances from Anya Taylor-Joy and Chris Hemsworth. It may be that Taylor-Joy’s iteration of the beloved character Furiosa will be just as cherished as Charlize Theron’s. The word of mouth seems promising, suggesting that Furiosa will coax moviegoers to see it on the big screen and drive it to box office success.
