Game Of Thrones May Have Just Confirmed A 10-Year-Old Daenerys Targaryen Theory

Summary

  • House of the Dragon season 2 trailer hints at origin of Daenerys’ dragon eggs.
  • The presence of three dragon eggs in the trailer may connect to Dany’s dragons.
  • Dreamfyre has long been a theorized candidate as the mother to Dany’s dragons.

The new House of the Dragon trailer could’ve just confirmed a long-standing Game of Thrones theory related to Daenerys Targaryen. Based on the book Fire & Blood by George R.R. Martin, the prequel series is set roughly 200 years on the timeline before Game of Thrones. In order to establish HBO’s fantasy franchise, connections and references have been added to House of the Dragon’s story to establish cohesion between the shows, such as Aegon’s prophecy of Ice & Fire in season 1, which Viserys passes to Rhaenyra.

House of the Dragon’s season 2 trailer has offered an action-packed glimpse at the Dance of the Dragons, a civil war between rival Targaryen successors. The prequel is the first of many planned Game of Thrones spin-offs, hoping to establish Martin’s fantasy world as an enormous, intricate television universe. With that in mind, several theories can be devised for how the spin-offs can connect back to Game of Thrones. House of the Dragon may be hundreds of years prior, but its events have a lasting impact on the universe.

House Of The Dragon’s Season 2 Trailer Hints At Introducing Daenerys’ Dragon Eggs

3 Eggs Are Shown In The HOTD Trailer, Indicating A Potential Origin For Dany’s Dragon Eggs

Early in the House of the Dragon season 2 trailer, there’s a shot of three eggs sitting in fire. With dragons at their peak in Westeros during this era, the show has offered a glimpse at dragon breeding through Daemon on Dragonstone, as select female dragons are used primarily as breeders. Designating three eggs has a specific connotation in the Game of Thrones universe, as it specifically resembles Daenerys’s trio of Drogon, Rhaegal, and Viseion, hinting that there might be a purposeful connection.

House of the Dragon
season 2 will premiere on HBO & Max on June 19th.

The question of where Dany’s dragon eggs came from has been on the minds of viewers since the early stages of Game of Thrones, as the last dragon had died over a century prior to the fall of the Targaryen dynasty. Illyrio, who gifts Dany her eggs, states that they’ve come from Asshai, but that still doesn’t indicate where they were originally hatched. Dragon eggs need to be cared for, and Dany’s have been petrified, meaning they could be any number of years old. The mystery could finally have been answered by House of the Dragon.

HOTD Introducing Daenerys’ Dragon Eggs Likely Confirms Game Of Thrones’ Dreamfyre Theory

One of the many House of the Dragon dragons, Dreamfyre, who’s bonded to Queen Helaena Targaryen, is known as a breeder. A common theory has been that Dreamfyre gave birth to the eggs that would later produce Dany’s dragons. This would assume that at some point in the madness of the Dance of the Dragons, the eggs would be stolen, waiting centuries to miraculously hatch. If the Game of Thrones theory is true, it would make Dreamfyre the true Mother of Dragons.
